If the twin was stillborn, it would not have been registered at all. If it lived, albiet for only a few minutes, then we need the parent's names to find it.

None of the numbers are close enough to be a twin. If it was one number either side of Lilian's it might be worth considering.

There are no deaths in the same quarter that match either, so it's likely that the twin was stillborn.

Troble with that one Sheila is that they are five pages apart - so it would be unlikely to be a match. If they were one page apart it would be a possibility ...

Have you the cert for your aunt Lillian to confirm you have the correct birth?

Pauline

Pauline Report 15 Nov 2009 12:41

Thanks for your comments, I do not have any certs, for her. Jusy know that she was A Twin and that she was born April 1909. I also have to look for a missing baby in the same family between 190i and 1905. I know that one of them was called George , as that is the family name. Would like to establish his birth/death . I think one of the two above may have been a girl, as my Father was the first surving boy in the family, and he was called charles george, (not George as first name) which was the family tradition.
But thanks for help, I though that by getting the twin, I would be able to find the missing George, as not a direct ancester not to bothered, but it would be nice to put a closure on the family
i guess that the twin was still born,. so no record. I have twins in other side of family in 1880's and that one had same reg no, even though one died ,at birth. (both same sex) Maybe if the baby lived just briefly, it was recorded
Thanks for your replies ALL

Hi Girls,
I did wonder about James Henry as being the possible match, maybe a transcribing error 180/185 ??

If your aunt's twin was born alive, there should be mention of the birth ( but not the name) in the 1911 census for the family, which records children born of a marriage and any deaths of them.

Hi Gwen (just back from lunch). I have the 1911 census, no mention of the twin or the "missing" child, unfortuneatly her only child is now also deceased, so maybe will never know!

Hi all,

I looked last night on the 1911 census and found Lilian known as Lily on the census.
It stated that George and Alice had been married 12 years and there were 7 live births but one died. On the census there were 6 children , all girls.

Mary 12
Eliza 10
Alice 6
Nellie 4
Lily 2
Louie 6 months

Hi Val
wher did you find about the 7 births? I have 1911, just shows the six girls
The gap betwen Eliza and Alice is 4 years so one missing there?? Which I think is The missing son,. I guess the twin was not not registered, as not born alive?
You are all a great a help. I guess different Web sites have slightly more info?
