Find Ancestors

Hi, I have been trying to find out more about my paternal side of the family for a while now and have had no luck with finding them. I have just received my Great Grandfathers birth certificate but still cannot trace his parents or family (as i know he was part of a large one)
His name was Harry Watkins born 15th April 1916. His family run The Lion in Llandogo, Monmouth, Wales.
My Grandfather believes our family have a plack still there but im not even sure if the pub still exists. Ive tried to use google to find out but have had no concrete evidence that its still standing. I would love to visit there if anybody knows of the area.
Any help would be fantastic.
Harry died in 2002 and i miss him dearly, sadly i only knew about his own story of coming to Essex at his funeral when my Great Auntie told us of him meeting my Great Grandmother and falling in love. She closely followed in his passing.
I have tried to find the Watkins family on other trees but have had no luck. I used to visit Harrys sister 'Kitty' when i was tiny but do not know if this was her real name. (infact only realised she was a blood relative after she died)
Harry's Father was William Job Watkins, Mother Lillie Jane Phillips

Thats great, im thinking kitty could of been Katherine. My Grandad remembers an Arthur, brother of Harry, I will have to confirm the others with him to see if they ring a bell.

Search for births with surname Watkins and mother Phillips, say 1911-1920, and see whether there are any in the right area.

I know people like to do searches themselves, and you will need to get to know FreeBMD!

There are quite a few Watkins-Phillips births in Monmouth registration district right up to 1920; I haven't searched further yet.

The thing to do is see whether there are other Watkins-Phillips marriages in that vicinity from 1900 onward that would account for some of the births.

... There are three 1905-1909, so it could be hard to sort out the births without actually getting certificates. You might run the names of the post-1911 births by him too.

Sibling descendants, thats why i tried to search trees, my grandad recalled a few names like Arthur, unfortunately cannot recall anymore, have written them down somewhere. Parents of wiliam and lillie would also be great if at all possible. Anything info really as i dont think im very good at this :( have searched for weeks and seems to take experts on here minutes to respond :) x

Thank you thats fantastic! Im attempting to use GR for the Death of Katherine to see if it ties in with when my Auntie Kitty passed away as FreeBMD stops at 1984. I am having no luck though.
I have a list of possible siblings for Harry from FreeBMD, how can i confirm that they are? Will i need to order all the Birth Certificates?

Did Kitty/Katherine get married and if so do you know her married name?

I believe she once had a son who died young, teens i think. I do not think she was married though, might be wrong
