Hello. I am afraid I do not read the Community Boards but whilst searching for Henry Boomer's parents i just happened to come across this site and I have just read your query concerning members of the Aikin Family - (father Henry Lindsay Aikin mother Agnes Aikin (nee Boomer). If you search for Henry Aiken born 1891 Donaghadee you will be able to contact me and I can fill you in with all the details of this family. Henry born 1891 is my husband Maxwell's grandfather. I will explain to you how there is a difference in the spelling of Henry's surname AIKEN to the Silloth Aikin's (they were originally registered as AIKEN) I visited the Records Office in Belfast and checked. Hope I can answer some of your queries. Best wishes

Well done Dea - those look promising! It looks like the whole family came over from Ireland together then.

I possibly should have said here that the Irish cerificates don't give a lot of information (a bit lke the English ones). But then I am probably just spoiled with so many Scottish ones. I ordered some Irish certificates recently and was a bit disappointed that on the widows death certificate, it didn't even give her late husband's name - just his occupation!

I was trying to connect all these marriages I found but couldn't trace any of them but now that

No problem - and Henry's occupation is correct on the image of the actual household return! That Aunt living with them also lets you know where Kennedy got his name! Because the census tells you how long that they had been married for you should be able to find the marriage certificate too.

Desmond was born in Northern ireland and yes Kennedy was his brother.

If you google Aikin family from Wigton Cumberland ,the first on page has henry lindsay Aikin parents and siblings and all Henry Lindsay Aikin's wife Agnes Bloomer and children nearly all were born in Donagadee Northern ireland.

This is 100% the people you are looking for.

Have a look here - this might just make your day!!

http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/reels/nai002295581/

Then go to the record pilot search on www.familysearch.org

If you are going to order certificates from Roscommon, then they will accept euro notes rpovided you mail them "signed for"

As is so often the case - Scottish and Irish surnames can so often be alike.
