I agree with Lancashire Ann you really need some birth certs, your nan's and perhaps one of the younger children Ada or John

I think you really need your nan's birth certificate. Apart from proving the maiden name of her mother, if she was a twin I think it was usual to include the time of birth on the certificate, presumably so that it later years it could be proved who was the elder.

Colin the 1911 is very confusing. I have looked up the birth of your nan Elizabeth Ellen in mar 1891 and there are no other Banks recorded.

The census has been written in 2 different handwritings.

Do you thinks that John could have done the first bit and put down Eliza Ellen age 20 and then someone else perhaps Harry Murray added his and his wife's name. I do think that Eliza Ellen and Elizabeth Ellen are probably the same person. Someone has also written marr 15 yrs against the Murray couple then crossed it out and in pencil underneath it says 1yr which is the more likely one.

I am not sure also about the 1901 family I have added above as I found another one with a John, a Mary Eliza, Elizabeth E and an Annie

Don't they like to send up on wild goose chases

Thhas similarities, will look again at it and campare the ages and speak to my Uncle, there is no Ada in this family, have been on this for months and when the 1911 census I got yesterday blew everything out, espeically if it is right, my nan had a twin, I was young when my G/dad died and not alive when my nan died, but great nan lived longer than her daughter...and was known as nan...

RutlandBelle

RutlandBelle Report 17 Dec 2009 15:45

I see that against his 'brother' Robert he has written married under 1 yr. Where is his wife?

Colin

Colin Report 17 Dec 2009 15:41

I had this thought, but he must have put the kids down as borther and sisters instead of Son and daughters , mistake on his par, Have heard relatives talk of them as the kids to John

Colin out of curiosity I have looked at the image. Very confusing!
All the children are down as brother or sister in relationship to the head and not son or daughter

Colin

Colin Report 17 Dec 2009 15:38

So must have been a 2nd marriage ,
which you may have found in 1902 What is Fylde, is this a district ....

RutlandBelle

RutlandBelle Report 17 Dec 2009 15:36

If Charlotte was only 34 she couldn't have been married to John for 28yrs

Colin

Colin Report 17 Dec 2009 15:34

yes youngest is JOhn

RutlandBelle

RutlandBelle Report 17 Dec 2009 15:34

this is the only marriage coming up for a John Banks marrying a Charlotte

Goode Charlotte Fylde 8e 1347
Hamilton Sarah Ellen Fylde 8e 1347

the last name is a correction to the first name, but I see thta the John born in 1911 was John W Banks

Colin

Colin Report 17 Dec 2009 15:33

it says 28 yrs , there is a gap from one that is 15 yrs and the next being 7 yrs then the youngest is 3 weeks old the eldest is 23 and the twins are 20 and there is a 18 yr old, Charlotte I hadnt heard of, so assuming a 2 nd marriage
