The first record for Herbert F Leonard on the New York Passenger lists states that his birth place was Lichfield

It also states that his DOB is January 8th 1864.... so ordering his birth certificate maybe the only way to know for sure if it's him.

Was the Herbert Leonard that emmigrated to America definetley from Lichfield, England?

There isn't a birth for Herbert F Leonard 1861-1865, the only Lichfield birth is Herbert Leonard in March 1863......... which I beleive is your man....... so I wonder if Fran??? was added at his Christening??

I'm just looking now for an immigration, he staes he went to the USA in 1888... so i'll check give or take a few years.


It's just the "F" or Frans bit that I need to get into his name at Lichfield.

On the 1930 census they are living at Macdonald Street, so also ties in with the address of 14 MACDONALD STREET;

Do you think this is really him and that he emigrated to America? How could I confirm all of this? Do you know what I would need to order?

I looked at the Ireland borth on the Census and think it is a mistake as then it staes ENG.

People often put different things on the census returns but as you see by 1930 we're back born in England.
