My wife cannot find any trace of John Willis Thacker who she believes married Alice Turner in 1914. He had 7 bros and 3 sisters named Thomas, Wilfred (her gfather), George, Edward Peter, Albert Percy, Walter Horace and Isiah, Elizabeth (Lizzie), Minnie and Lily. My wife believes John Willis and Alice had 6 children so my theory of John being killed in the first world war bit the dust. Can anyone offer suggestions as to why their marriage detail and Alice's birth evidence cannot be found. Maybe she is looking in the wrong place???

where was John born? what part of the world are we talking about here?

Probably the problem was putting in his middle name when he didn't use it at marriage. Remember less is better.

John willis thacker born 1896 number 49144 enlisted 1916 it says not married His naxt of kin is john willis Thacker (Father) address in 1920 was 21,Old Building Rawnsley Hednesford.

He was discharged in 1918 with pension and some form of child allowance so he must have married at some point but why was his wife not next of kin?Had she died ?

John Willis Thacker was born Cannock, Staffordshire and I believe Margaret Manson has hit the bullseye re. middle name but I dont believe you have matched the children.?? However, Ann, I think Wilfred is his brother and Thomas his father married to Sarah Chapman.

In 1901 Alice Turner is the adopted daughter of Samuel and Sarah Bickerton.
