Find Ancestors

Looking for info re: my Grandfather, John Andrew Kilpatrick's ancestory:
Born c.1896 Dundee area possibly. Served in Machine Gun Corps during WWI (Middle East). Died c. 1938, Renfrewshire. Married (twice?). Second marriage to Catherine Templeton Bainbridge. sons, (My father) Ian (b 1930 d.2000) Charles, Ernie.

So far I know nothing about him, prior to WWI. His army discharge papers refer to BroughtyFerry and I have a few old pics with a BroughtyFerry photographers stamp on them. I'm afraid I don't have any other papers of his.... Yet!

EDIT: Scotlands people shows marriage to Catherine Bainbridge took place in 1929. I don't have any credits so can't view the record but maybe someone else could, or you could buy a copy of the cert.

John and Catherine Bainbridge was married 20 March 1829, 36 Freguson Ave, Renfrew.

John, 33 years old was a Grocers Manager and was a Widower when he married Catherine.

His father was Charles Kilpatrick, Printers Foreman and mother was Mary Jane Kirkpatrick.....both were still living when John and Catherine married.

Catherine was 30 years old and she was a shop assistant.

Her parents were Charles Bainbridge, Machineman and mother was Mary Cameron Greenhill. Both were still alive.

Had to go and help my daughter with her study work.

William was from Mary Jane's 1st marriage to John Lockerbie - they were married in 1885.

Mary Jane and Charles were married in 1899, Portobello, Edinburgh.

William was born on 19 July 1889 @ 1:30am, in which looks like Inch St, Dumfries.

Have had spare credits so looked them up.

There is also a tree on Ancestory.com which has Charles and Ann (Watson) in it.

It has ancestors upwards for both Charles and Ann.

The information on the Lockerbie connection was so much more than I had dreamt of being available. I must confess... wet eyes time when I saw that.

I knew there was a second marriage somewhere back and the Kilpatrick surname came in thru' a StepFather. It was to retain the memory of the Lockerbie name that my Mum chose it as middle names for my me and my brother.

Katty, Mary Jane and John can't have married in 1856, she wasn't born until 1866, are you sure it wasn't 1886!
