on ancestry there is the original marriage record for Thomas Browning and Fanny Wybrow (spelt wybron on ancestry) in November 1861 newington, southwark

BUT.....can anyone read Thomas's address at time of marriage........I am trying to trace him before his marriage and need to see where he is in 1861 (ie on 1861 census)......as the wedding was only 6mths after the census, i thought these two might tie in.............but I cannot read his address on the MR

Gloster Street ?

Stephen

Stephen Report 11 Jan 2010 16:22

thanks Astra, but I know for sure that is not my Thomas Browning........he died 1864.......his widow Fanny Wybrow (born Takeley, Essex) was a widow and still living in Newington in 1871

This is my Problem, I do not know where Thomas Browning was from, the only info I have is what is on the MC.........I thought by finding him in 1861 , I then could work backwards........so I had hoped any address on the MC and 1861 census would match as they were within a few months of each other

Gt. Dover Street?

Dea x

OOOps - sorry - that was someone else on the same page!!

I will take another look.

Dea x

Sorry about that - It is CHARLES Street !!

If you compare the C to the other writing on the page - the first cert I looked at (Gt. Dover St) has the grooms occupation as Clerk !! - The same 'C'

There is also someone on there with occupation of 'labourer' and that matches with the 'r' in Charles which could look like as 's'.

Definately Charles Street!!

K above also agrees!

Stephen

Sadly I think its the only way forward. I have checked the 1861 and no one is obvious. I think they hide on purpose sometimes! It will also give his occupation which will help

Good Luck

Stephen Report 11 Jan 2010 18:24
