Thanks for looking for me George,

Choccy, I think you have it! I am trying to establish this man as my grandfather (or not). The rest of his family are living in Maindee, and checking on Google map there is a Windsor Rd. just half a mile away!
Thanks a million. If your eyes can bear it, would you be really kind and see if there is anything else on that page please?
I owe you all a bottle of Optrex!!
Cheers

Wow, only went for a bite to eat and look what you lot have been up to!! Thank you SO much. I extend the thanks to all of you. I am so pleased, with Albert Bowen I had pretty much given up then had one last go.

It's definitely him - Choccy, where on earth did you see all that? He had the sense to marry someone with the name of Alice Legge, a godsend when researching Bowens in Herefordshire and Wales! You must have looked long and hard, bless you.

It's especially precious to me as my Dad was orphaned when he was just 10 - he's 86 now - and has next to nothing about his father, even his medals were "acquired" by another family member sadly.

Thanks all from the bottom of my heart.

Jan x

I shall go back now and look more myself.

Barbara and Viv, thanks, missed the ref to Wainder Rd in my excitement! Doesn't seem to exist now, but could be Windsor Rd. i guess. But the Maindee area clinches it anyway.
Appreciate all your time so much.

And Jan..
Good luck with the Legge,s,I researched an Alice legge(born Bristol) married a Murphy from Cardiff , for a friend and OH DEAR it was difficult.....................

brummiejan

brummiejan Report 16 Jan 2010 19:31

Thanks for the "good luck" wishes but I have the Legges down to a "T"! Alice was born Kington but her father wisely was born in Clungunford Shropshire, which kind of narrows it down somewhat!!
Can't wait to share all this with dad tomorrow!
