Thanks for all the info, I found the marriage to Richard, but could only find a couple of marriages of a Sarah Brown and a Sarah Fletcher, both to a Richard Jones in Ludlow. But I am sure that is her in 1861, thankyou. I'll look for a marriage to Edward now. |

Just to complicate things! Sarah born c1836 Cleobury North so worth considering. The infant is a girl so could be the daughter in 1871. |

I did notice the age variation for John, but have come across this many times so in itself doesn't signify much I think. It's hard to put yourself in their shoes, isn't it - almost certainly illiterate, never bothering about their ages normally I imagine! |

Well, I suppose the only answer is to get the birth cert, but as it won't really tell you much more, I'd save my money - at least we found her 1881! |

She is 46 in 1911 so that ties-in |

Well, it's a theory! It fits with given age at death. How about other censuses and marriage? |

It's possible the 1871 ages were mixed up maybe? They would have been registered Ludlow: |

Do you think Ellen could have been registered as Helen at birth? I haven't looked for that |

Sarah I think, was married before as there are two children Walter Jones and Mary Ann Jones in 1871. I have no idea as to her maiden name |

Why thank you! Just looked for Richard and hoped for the best. Needs a lot of imagination this one. I have a family who mixed up all the children's birthplaces so an age swop is quite possible, especially as someone else was recording the details. |

Why this couple lied about ages all the time, I do not know. They married in 1887 and she was 24 - making her born 1863? |

Yes, I saw that one, but 1869? she would have been a year old by the time of 1871 census |
