Really just to add that no mention is made above of the origins of John Fearon's wife, Mary Elizabeth. The 1911 census suggest that they were married in 1890.

The other point about the 1911 census is that an Ellen Hall also appears. She is recorded as having been born in Salford in 1842. She is also described as the mother in law of John Fearon. Given that this is the case, then Mary Elizabeth's maiden name would have been Hall.

However, I can't find any link between Mary Elizabeth and this Ellen.

Has anyone gone down this route before me and found some success.

no i dont have there wedding cert yet but i have sent for it. thats very interesting about the sibling Christine thank you. i will have to wait and see what the wedding cert says now. thank you for this info xx

Hayley, do you have the marriage cert of his mother to Joseph Beggs?

You need to get this to see if indeed she had been married before.

It looks as if James was probably illegitimate because I have found this birth with mmn as Fearon, a possible half sibling to James.

I have asked questions on here about this family name before but i found out a few days ago that i had been given the wrong info and i was tracing the wrong fearon family, I now believe i am on the right track but once again ive hit a wall.

I am looking for my great gradfathers father. - I have been told that his father died before james was 2, and I have found the records to show that his mother (mary elizabeth) did marry a man named Joseph Beggs in 1894.

I have james's wedding cert (married sarah ellen mcardle 25.12.1913) there is a name for his father which is James Henry Fearon (yes they had the same name), and it says deceased next to it. I have searched for any record but cant find him anywhere.

I have tried to get my g grandad's birth cert but cant find a match for him even though i have his date of birth from ww1 records and marriage cert.

If anyone could help me to find out who my great great grandfather was i would be very very greatful.
