I have had a look at the online National Archives catalogue but I don't see a divorce for William and Mary but that wasn't that uncommon at that time. They may just have gone their own ways. Also if Mary Lizzie's death was registered in the name Way, she was probably never married to Albert Howell.

I would never have believed all this if it hadn't been so backed up by details.
Just have to throw this in 'cause the 1911 transcription was killing me:
