I am pulling my hair out! I have a marriage cert for my gt. grandfather Benjamin Pitt aged 31years at marriage to Hagar Dean on the 17. 9. 1894 - making his birth year 1863..
If given ages are not 'gospe'l (their maths may be as bad as mine!) then could Benjamin Pitts parents be Benjamin and Martha Pitt on the 1861 census as 6mths old ??
Other trees are giving his birth year as April 1862 to a James Pitt and Jemina Leach - I cannot find a marriage or records on the census for these two!
My concern is in the trans-scriptions I have another marriage cert for Benjamins, only daughter, Martha - because she married a John Moore (his father was William Moore) the cert. writer wrote 'Benjamin Moore' as her father, instead of Benjamin Pitt!!
I am fairly new to this and not sure how inaccruate/ accruate the records are!? -

Hagar Dean (born 5 march 1854 in the county of Stafford, England) was name on marriage cert
(she was maried before to John Dean)
her maiden name was Danks - father Soloman Danks
It is Benjamin Pitt (her second husband) my gt grandfather I am having problems with!

- yes that is her - I have info for her family
her second marriage to Benjamin Pitt on 17th sept. 1894
states his father as James Pitt (deceased) and his age as 31 years giving a birth year as 1863 - this is where my problems start!!
