thanks everyone for trying... i too have tried to go down most of these avenues, but you have got more info than me. the problem is obviously the fact that the family moved about alot. when copper and tin mines closed in devon, alot of families moved north to get work at new mines, then my ancestor frederick john woodman became a newspaper editor, strange change in direction i know, but a fact, and this work took him all over the country
thanks again
regards

Can't find on FMP either, there is a soldier Frederick Woodman born 1847 in Rupert Lane Barracks, Liverpool Place of Birth Unknown, but it is unlikely to be your man

I can't find anything,I have been through 1871 census for Liverton where William was born and Skinningrove.

I did find in Liverton at 35,Downe Street a William Lark born 1838 in Cornwall wife harriet 1842 and Samuel son 1869 Cumberland.
Could this be Elizabeth's brother in law??

Maryb
If William was christened 12/2/1871 in Guisborough they must have been somewhere near.
Its probably those transcribers again getting surname down wrong.especially as none of the 3 can be found.

Edit.Yes William Henry lark 1838 died 1883 was brother to John 1836 married to Elizabeth Maunder.

William Henry married Harriett Maunder.

William and John Lark's parents were Samuel 1814-1858 and Mary Maunder Bennett 1813-1869 Liskeard Cornwall
