thanks everyone for trying... i too have tried to go down most of these avenues, but you have got more info than me. the problem is obviously the fact that the family moved about alot. when copper and tin mines closed in devon, alot of families moved north to get work at new mines, then my ancestor frederick john woodman became a newspaper editor, strange change in direction i know, but a fact, and this work took him all over the country |

Can't find on FMP either, there is a soldier Frederick Woodman born 1847 in Rupert Lane Barracks, Liverpool Place of Birth Unknown, but it is unlikely to be your man |

I too have looked under everything I can think of - larks, woodmans, fredericks born Cornwall, etc.etc. and no luck at all! Maybe they went on a trip to Ireland!! |

the 1911 census is correct, sarah ann was his second wife he married her in 1896, which was the same year his first wife elizabeth died. |
