Thomas Power married Mary Ann Harding at St Michaels Hackney in Dec 1882. As far as I know they were both born in the East End of London. The marriage record is on ancestry, in fact I have the original cert.

I have found them with 4 children Mary Thomas Hannah and Louisa on 1901 census in Buxton Street Mile End.

Can anyone find them in 1891? Thomas was a brush Maker born about 1859. Mary about 1862 They would have had the first two of these children by then

thanks

It seems that Thomas Charles Power b 1888 married May in 1910 in Sept qtr West Ham ref from Freebmd 4a 234

There are 2 entries for a May

May A Vasey
May Russell

A tree on Ancestry says May Russell but what would the Vasey connection be please ?

Many thanks

If you look at the original (free to do on FreeBMD) you'll see that the Vasey one is mistranscribed. Page number is actually 334.

Thanks for that seems you have answered my original query as well, Many thanks Astra

I now have a letter from the daughter of Hannah Power b 1890 in my posession ( she is now 90 )

She tells me that this Thomas Power ( the 3 year old) eventually emigrated to Adelaide Australia. Can anyone substantiate this?

Astra

Astra Report 25 Jun 2011 16:04

I will see if i can locate him on the Australian Electoral Roll

Astra

Astra Report 25 Jun 2011 16:14

This could be the family travelling out

Name: Mr T C POWER
Date of departure: 28 March 1924
Port of departure: London
Passenger destination port: Sydney, Australia
Passenger destination: Sydney, Australia

Date of Birth: 1889 (calculated from age)
Age: 35
Marital status: Married
Sex: Male
Occupation: Carpenter
Passenger recorded on: Page 8 of 27

The following people with the same last name travelled on this voyage: -

Master B T POWER Page 8 of 27>>>DOB 1911
Master F POWER Page 8 of 27 >>>>DOB 1912
Mrs M POWER Page 8 of 27 >>>DOB 1891
Mrs M K POWER Page 18 of 27 >>>DOB 1889

Looking at the original image there is no MK Power with the family group so it could just be someone unrelated with the same surname.
The family were living at 42 Harrow Road Leytonstone before leaving.

It looks as though Master F could be Frank

Did they have another son in 1923 called Stanley who died the same year?

Janet

Janet Report 25 Jun 2011 17:07

sorry been away having some lunch

Yep that's them !!

40/42 Harrow Road was the family home and was written in the letter I received from the 90 year old family member so must be correct. They also ran the brush making business from there.

She also said that a grandson came to the UK in the Air Force in WW2 but she can't remember his name unfortunately.

is there a way you could send me the image you have found if I send you my email address ?

Thanks ever so for the help

would be nice to track some living rellies in Aus too

We seem to have crossed posts!
I have searched the Australian Electoral Rolls on Ancestry but I can't pinpoint the family.

The travel information is from Find My Past passenger lists.
