Not sure if that was a mistake on her part but perhaps she just can't find them as we can't, either way. Must be a huge transcription error, or missing records.

Hi there all of you looking at this whilst I was away.
The marriage of Martha and William was pointed out to me by another tree holder but she doesn't have any corroborative evidence for the marriage.
Martha was the sister of my Gtx howevermany Grandfather so she wasn't a primary issue for me. Just thought I would look into it as I have details of most of the other siblings.
Martha was with her parents in 1861 so I searched the marriage on Yorks. BMD. After that I can't find any info on either Wm. or Martha so maybe they did leave the country.

I checked the Wm who died 1860s he was 65yrs. so not really likely to be Martha's husband.
Looked for a marriage of Martha Eyre after 1862. No joy.
Maybe I should just give up.
Thanks, Carole

If it was the right William eyre who died in sept 1862 in hull then she maybe married soon after.
Was she deffinately Martha and not Mary Martha, there was a Mary Martha Eyres married in Sculcoates 1869 to John Oakes or William
Jacklin Danby.

Maryb.

I not suprised all those trees don't have Martha's marriage if she was down as Shakespere

Just to throw the cat among the pidgeons.

Looked for William Eyre on census 1871 and found one with wife Ann in North ferriby Yorkshire, with them is her sister Charlotte Ducker which rung a bell.
William Eyre married Ann Ducker in Hull 1862 V9 253,on same page as Martha Shakepeare and John Green.
There are trees on Ancestry with William married to Ann Ducker.

So Martha did marry John Green,do we agree?

NO - as previously stated - read the earlier replies

Yorkshire Marriage indexes for the years: 1862
Surname Forename(s) Surname Forename(s) Church / Register Office Registers At Reference

EYRE William SHAKESPEAR Martha Holy Trinity Hull HD/21/301

What is NOT clear is whether this woman is actually Martha SHAKESBY.

It is conjecture that the record is erroneous

ONLY the marriage cert will resolve this

Her christening shown on familysearch.org shows Martha.
Also theMary Martha who married W. Jacklin Danby was from Wragby, Lincs.
Oakes who married in 1869 married someone called Sarah not Eyres not a Martha

Re Shakesby and Shakespear. Quite often through the years the name was transposed as Shakespear as well as other connotations.
The family lived in the area of the Holy Trinity so I'm sure it will be her.

So why didn't she marry john green?
If there are 4 people marrying Hull 1862 v9 253.

William Eyre
Ann Ducker
Martha Shakspeare
John Green.

William and Ann Eyre with sister Charlotte Ducker in 1871.
Leaves Martha and John green being the remaining couple.

Which previous message should i be reading Flick.

Right Flick have seen that, but you have to admit its strange that nothing can be found on Martha and William Eyre but can be on William Eyre and Ann Ducker.
And then there is Martha Green same age and living in right area on 1871 marriners wife, wasn't her dad a mariner.

Why is it so strange?

As I already suggested, they could have emigrated

I'm out of this one now

Mary

Mary Report 23 Mar 2010 14:51

Someone on here has William Eyre born 1836 Osgodby Lincs and Ann Ducker born 1844 in Melton Yorks, maybe they could clear it up.

Not trying to offend any one.
