I am still looking for Williams birth and marriage, as you say how sad for Sarah to loose her husband on Christmas day; out of 7 live births she only had one child grow up I wonder if the other children died of consumption as well.
Please keep looking for Williams birth & marriage.

Oh how sad to have died on Christmas day!

Sandra Report 28 Apr 2010 10:40

I have Williams death certificate he died 25th December 1847 at Peacock Passage age 40 informant his wife Sarah who signed with a X. This means he was born in 1807, he died of consumption.
I have a birth certificate for a boy born 30th May 1839 at Peacock Passage parents William & Sarah Worrall (late Carter) father signed with a X, there is no name but our registrar tells me that they have found others similar signed by this registrar, he even made a mistake on the date when registered

I ordered Williams death certificate and George Frederick's birth certificate yesterday, I will let you know the results.

MaureeninNY Report 25 Apr 2010 23:07

Oh good! Just had to make certain.
That's the odd thing. George's birth/christening is obviously in the parish records. What he may have been transcribed as is another matter. That's why I suggested getting a probable sibling's birth cert.
I usually use:
http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl

although I have a sub I've never used FMP to look up a birth.

Best,
Maureen

If you look at Mel's reply 22 April above, you will see the birth of George Frederick Worrall 30 May 1839 son of William & Sarah christened 30 June 1839

YES I DO HAVE George's marriage certificate.2nd March 1865 at St.Chads Church Shrewsbury.
George F Worrall age 24 -Carpenter of Princess St. father William Worrall carpenter married Elizabeth Summer age 25 of Shoplatch, father Thomas Sumner- labourer.

Only thing that is wrong is if his birth is May 1839 he should be 25 years old at the date of his marriage.

I have just looked at Find my past birth records and I cannot find any record of George Frederick but I can find Female Worrrall a/m/j/ 1839, my subscription to Find my past ends at the end of this month and I do not intend to renew it at the moment any suggestions to how I locate records without having to pay?

MaureeninNY Report 25 Apr 2010 14:05

Oh dear,
That's where the gamble comes into play. I really don't see your George F's birth at all.
My suggestion is to try for one of the others-for instance:
Name: Female Worrall
Year of Registration: 1839
Quarter of Registration: Apr-May-Jun
District: Shrewsbury (1837-71)
County: Shropshire
Volume: 18
Page: 175

And hope that Princess Street is on the cert.

You do have George's marriage cert.?(oh tell me you do?!)

Maureen

Sandra

Sandra Report 24 Apr 2010 21:10

Yes I will try for George as he is the only child to survive.
Sarah was 28 when she had her first child in Shrewsbury, do you think there is a chance she had others somewhere else in the country who did not survive.

MaureeninNY

MaureeninNY Report 24 Apr 2010 01:46

Just my opinion and it's a gamble-but I'd really get one of the children's birth certificates to find out Sarah's maiden name.
That's about the best starting point to go for.

This looks to be 'my' William, but where was he born perhaps he was born in Gloucestershire - any suggestions

Sandra

Sandra Report 23 Apr 2010 07:40

Peacock Passage is between Princess Street and High Street Shrewsbury, it seems Sarah lived there from the 1841 census until she died there 24th March 1874 It looks as though Sarah Carter bp. 1 Jan 1803 at Painswick could be her, and the William Worrall above could be his death.
Any idea's about his birth? do you think they could have been married in Gloucester ?

MaureeninNY

MaureeninNY Report 22 Apr 2010 23:42

Mel.I just assumed it was this one:
Deaths Dec 1847 (>99%)
Worrall William Shrewsbury 18 136

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 22 Apr 2010 23:30

Well all I can say is that their last child was born in 1845 and it was Christened with the parents as William Worral and Sarah so he must have been alive then and he was'nt on the 1851 census so the death should be in about 1845 to 1851. PROBLEM IS WHERE DID HE DIE??

Sorry hit the caps lock!
