Charles H Simpson 1825 newington
Hannah Simpson 1823 Islington

Still looking, and I have tried quite a few combinations.
Missing census page?

Well,

I also am baffled - they do not seem to be there.

When the children were christened the family was living at Newington Causeway and father was a bookseller.

I have checked all the properties on Newington Causeway on 1851 and the family are not listed. There is a booksellers + stationers shop at No 17 but now run by Sophia Appleyard and her niece - this 'may' be the same bookshop but they certainly are no longer there!

Thanks for looking everyone
I will have to give up on that year then, I was hoping they may have lived with his parents as Im not sure who he married all I know is he may be a Charles too
edit - Ann seems like the likely candidate

I think I have found Charles aged 15 with his Parents on the 1941 census
Charles 40 Stationer
Ann 34
Charles 15
St Mary Newington

Found a baptism for Charles Henry in 1837 but said he was born 1824 so I assume its him

Thats the right family Edward is my ancestor but obviously he wouldnt be in the 1851 census
edit Looks like the son Charles Edward died when he was 4 so if 1851 census is found there should be 2 children plus parents

JaneyCanuck Report 25 Apr 2010 04:01

Any chance of this being Hannah in 1851 do you think?

Name: Hannah Simpson
Age: 28
Estimated birth year: abt 1823
Relation: Servant
Where born: Pinner, Middlesex, England

Civil parish: Camberwell
County/Island: Surrey

Married, nurse. Nurse of the domestic kind - she's in a list after Cook that goes House Maid, Nurse, Wet Nurse, Nursery Maid. It's a solicitor's household, with children aged 4, 3, 2 and 1.

Maybe a possible for Charles:

Name: Charles Sibson
Age: 25
Estimated birth year: abt 1826
Relation: Pauper
Where born: Stroud, Middlesex, England

Civil parish: Lambeth
ED, institution, or vessel: Lambeth Workhouse

Married, day labourer. There's a check in the disability column. Seems remote, just thought I'd throw it in.

This looks like that Charles:

Deaths Mar 1864
SIBSON Charles Newington 1d 227

Do you have the baptism for Edward 1852? The Address on that may give a clue.

Well, I have just spent another couple of hours (and the rest!! - tee hee!!), searching aimlessly for this family.

They are just NOT on the 1851 census...dratt!

Dea x

P.S. of course, unless the ones Janey found seperately are the parents but even so, where are the children?

I DO wish I wasn't so addicted as I know I will be back again looking later!

Thanks again everyone for looking
I agree Ginny for once I could read it all, I think thats the right family in 1841 just going by the occupations.

It seems to me Ladykira that they only baptised the 1st two children unless they moved out of the area that comes into the london baptisms.

Janey Im not sure about the 2 you found Charles had always been a stationer or bookseller so it seems strange to change occupations and Hannah had 2 young children plus one on the way probably but obviously cannot rule them out

I have just found the entry in the London deaths and burials for the young son Charles Edward Simpson b 1847 d 1851

It gives an address of Victoria Terrace which I assume is in Camberwell, seem to be getting a bit closer
