Can't see a baptism for a John Cryer on Freereg - the closest I can get with the soundex on is

John Crier baptised on 27 Feb 1757 in St Nicholas, Kelston to George and Betty Crier.

I have no idea where this is in relation to Charlcombe where John Cryer married Hannah Davis so I'm not sure this is definite for his parents.

Shirley Report 24 Apr 2010 21:21

Sorry but isn't this Johnb.c.1770 is too early for the John who married Hannah could it be his father?

Shirley

Shirley Report 24 Apr 2010 21:25

That would of made him about 28 when he got married I could be wrong what do you think?

So, you can keep George and Betty Crier as strong possibles for the next generation back.

Their children were

Martha Cryer - baptised 19th Jan 1749/50 St Nicholas, Kelston

Thomas - baptised 18th Oct 1754 St Nicholas, Kelston

John - baptised 27th Feb 1757 St Nicholas, Kelston

There is also a burial for a John Crier on 9th Nov 1754, St Nicholas, Kelston - son of George and Betty - think he was probably born between Martha and Thomas as there is a bit of a gap between them.

Betty Crier was buried on 11th Jan 1781 St Nicholas, Kelston

John Crier was baptised in 1757 - married in 1785 - so yes he would have been 28. Not unusual for males to marry at a later age.

Its not a big enough gap for another generation so it must be his parents.Thankyou

Okay, so we have

George Cryer 1821 - parents Nathaniel born 1790 and Anne Nurse/Mary?

Nathaniel Cryer 1790 - parents John born 1757 and Hannah Davis

John Crier 1757 - parents George and Betty......... possibly

If George and Betty are the right parents that takes you back to about 1720-1725ish for George's birth if he were between 25-29 when Martha was born.

Does that look right to you??
