Denise

Denise Report 2 May 2010 18:37

That would make sense. How sad for Sydney, to go from a family of 7 to 2 in a matter of a couple of years.

Denise

Denise Report 2 May 2010 18:32

Really sad. Just makes you realise how lucky we are. I wonder what happened to Thomas then? When my grandad married my Nan in 1921 he only brought Ruth with him? The plot thickens!

LondonBelle Report 2 May 2010 18:22

Yes, you could be right. Just googled 'Spanish Flu' and it says the pandemic lasted from March 1918 to June 1920
The virus caused three waves of disease. The second of these, between September and December 1918, resulting in the heaviest loss of life.

Denise

Denise Report 2 May 2010 18:18

I'm wondering if they were the victims of the Spanish Flu?

Found this on the National Archives site. If he was in the Royal Navy it might be worth seeing if this is him. The year of birth is a bit out and it refers to Brompton rather than Margate but ...
