Sarah, if the original certificates were destroyed, you will need to apply for new ones from the GRO. I don't think they offer any service to "reprint" them, and they will cost you £9.25 each.

I am not advocating spending money willy-nilly, but I just feel that to be on the safe side you should at least have something that proves the names of the people we have found.

I definately will see if I can find the certificates, birth death and marriage, and get them reprinted. Especially now I've got some idea of who they could've been.

No Harley Street Doctor though. I guess George and Benjamin were renovating the doctor's house, and parents hoped Rosina would marry the doctor, but she chose George instead.

Sarah, people have done good work here, we are "probably" right, but I'd be happier if you got the birth cert of your grandfather Harry, to prove his father was George and his mother was Rosina Whatton. If it were me, I'd also get the marriage cert of Rosina and George to prove her father was not a doctor. I really couldn't rest until I had it.

Just a good thing she threw the Whatton part in on the 1911 census!!

Just been on the phone to my mum again, she said the dr line could've been a story from my nan, as it's the only link that she had to her past.
Basically all records of marriages, births and deaths were destroyed in a house fire so we have nothing from that side of the family.
My mum thinks this Roseina could be the one, as the area is right, the dates are right, and it makes sense with the names in the family.
Rosina supposidy had more children though liley/Elizabeth , violet, James/Jim, Alfred, Louie, Daisy.

Harry/Henry James is born 1909 it seems. But it is mother Rosina whose father is supposedly a doctor.

Sarah, please tell me why you think Rosina's father was doctor? Do you have a certificate showing that?

I strongly advise that you get the marriage certificate of your grandparents before we continue further. We could be working on heresay and supposition. I'm sure there were lots of families with children called George, Rose and Harry. And possibly Elizabeth and Alfred too.

I think Maureen you've hit the nail on the head. I've just got off the phone to my mum, and Henry as she knew him went by the name of Harry throughout his life to his friends and he had an older brother and sister named george and Rose.

There are loads of Henry Greens born in London around 1911. Was he born before 1911 or after? It does make a difference if we are to find him in 1911.

There are no Harley Street doctors coming up with a daughter Rosina. If she is your great grandmother, do you have your grandmother/grandfather's birth certificate, which will give you her maiden name?

EDIT, Oh he is Henry Green born about 1911. Do you have his marriage cert to your grandmother, and is his father described as a Doctor? What makes you think he was a doctor?

Again, sorry, he was born and raise around the Islington Area.

Meant to add, my Grandfather was born around 1911. Henry Green. This side of my Family is a complete mystery to my family. All this advice and help is greatly appreciated!
