Find Ancestors

When I looked at the extract of John's death today it looks like the mother's name may have been Margaret Rae.

When I did a quick search of the OPR's I found a marriage for John Drummond and Margaret Rae in Falkirk in 1826 which was the year of John their son's estimated birth. I will keep investigating.

Although there is a marriage for a John Drummond to a Mary Dow the death extract certainly says Margaret and not Mary.

I will see if I can find anything in the 1841 census as well

I'm fairly certain his mother was Mary Dow, I'm positive the death cert says Dow not Rae (if you look at the D in Drummond and although it is very faint it is definitely the same D for the first letter of the maiden name)......None of his children appear to have been called Margaret, although that doesn't mean one wasn't and we just don't know of her. As you have said Tom the information on certificates is only as good as the Informant's memory (in this case his son)
