I wondered whether Michael was going to start leaving his trademark post in such opportune places as this:

eats shoots and leaves

;)

but apparently he choked on the first one!

Try reading the Success Stories board. It's amazing what GenesReunited does for people!! Funny how you never see them round the boards here ...

must say that that reply took my breath away!

I guess it all comes down to the misinformaiton that GR promotes

They never actually say that all help on here is provided by members, using their own memberships, subscriptions and money, do they?

Nor that the members help because they love to help, and enjoy the hunt to find hiding ancestors.

Not to mention the chance to educate newbies to the hobby in how to find things for themselves, and thus get more satisfaction.

The implication is that GR carries ALL the records you might need (false!), and that they have the help available .... with the inevitable assumption that said help is paid to be available 24/7, and of course never need any civilities such as Please or Thank You.

the words false and advertising come to mind!

Astra,

No need to apologise,if they can't use Please and Thank you then I don't think anyone should do look ups for them and she had some cheek..

Astra Report 17 May 2010 20:30

Sorry I kicked that off folks. Just totally exasperated with the lack of manners and respect.
Costs nothing to say please or thank you after all and to demand information like that is totally out of order in my book.
My apologies again.

Astra

Michael

i know exactly how you feel, there are times when i could make comments about the lack of manners by some posters, but i think i would be heading for a GR holiday.

Also when people ask for a look up on the 1911 census and say " anyone have spare credits" dont they realise its people who have a subscription, that do these look ups, they certainly dont know the cost of credits to view the records

George -
It's not the lack of a brown envelope - it's the total lack of manners that gets me.

Talk about "Who do you think you are ?
Who the * bleep bleep* do these people think WE are?

You could always look yourself Patricia on FreeBMD.org.
Much more fun finding them yourself and then you don't have to worry about saying please or thank you!!
