Hi Vera
I dont think that will work with those marriages as Peggy (Margaret) would only have been 6 then and Agnes born that yr. Maybe this could be the elusive mother of Agnes and Peggy ???

To Starr 1
I am almost 99% sure that Agnes was born in 1939. On a form that I have she is noted as being sixteen in 1955.
Thanks anyway
Mark

Hi Jan
Just had another look at the form and it says Mrs in front of Peggy Clark so maybe she was married in 1954 as per Vera´s find.

come into this thread late - not sure which to reply on

I assume the births of Agnes & Peggy (Margaret) have been searched for on ancestry not just freebmd? freebmd is rather lacking in 1939/40 births and quite a bit of 1933

(I don't have access to ancestry or fmp)

I was just going to post that one Mark.....you beat me to it lol.

I wasn't sure if it's of any relevance or will just muddy the waters further so didn't post it lol

The plot thickens!
I have just been on FreeBMD and found an Agnes M Wilson with mothers name Clark born in Chelsea Jun 39. Maybe that wasn´t Peggys married name but her maiden name living at Lotts Rd Chelsea???? What do you think?

You are right - Rhoda married a Leonard Boggis (see original post).

Mark - Vera found this marriage, much better prospect than the other one:

Margaret Shaw
Spouse Surname: Clarke francis J
Date of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep 1954
Registration district: Chelsea
Registration county (inferred): Middlesex
Volume Number: 5c
Page Number: 561

don't know if this helps or complicates but David's marriage in 1948 indicates that Rhoda had been married twice

#COMMENT Spouse is given as Shaw or Boggis or Kirby

ie at some time she was Rhoda Shaw

Just to say Vera is also having a look - you are so complicated there is a thread about your thread!!

Thanks Jan- really do appreciate your help. Not heard anything back from Jean yet re those ages and names.
Have just looked at Free BMD and one was too big a search and the other time it was too busy!!!

Just clutching at straws really! If they adopted another name she could use this on your birth cert (my husband's uncle went almost his whole life using the "wrong" surname, taken after his mother married!)
The laborious search involves looking at all Agnes M births for say 1938-1940. noting them down and doing the same for Peggy (Margaret?) looking for any matches for surname and MMN.
I think we might need fresh eyes to have a look. Will put out a plea!!

Mark Report 27 May 2010 12:55

Not sure what you mean- how do I do that ? I am quite happy to do it even if it is laborious!
What throws me is why Agnes was on my birth cert as Shaw if you think they might be born under another name. Surely on a legal document it has to be correct? Or maybe not???

Mark Report 27 May 2010 12:51

Yes - that is how I looked them up from Births on genes r. Although I have Terence L as Pancras.

I'm beginning to wonder if Dennis, Peggy and Agnes were born under a different surname altogether though goodness knows how that would work.
Very laborious but have you tried cross-checking by just searching for first names on Freebmd or Ancestry??
