Thanks Janey , I thought when I was writing before that of course the marriage cert would be the answer to my query. I am going to play around with this over the weekend but may well resort to shelling out yet more money !!

Will try to locate Kimberworth Park farm somehow . On first couple of attempts Kimberworth also appears to be an area or parish of Rotherham/Sheffield .

Thanks again

Vanessa

P.s The Mundys were in Whitnash Warks in 1881 and Frederick was in Pudsey, Yorkshire in 1891 so no links to the area as far as I am aware until then.

The 1881 only is searchable by address at Ancestry.

In 1881 it has only one result for a search for
Kimberworth farm

Samuel and Maria Grainger and children, and Maria's parents Thomas and Elizabeth Smart, at Kimberworth Rd Ferham Farm. (There are also a Ferham House and a Ferham Cottage on the page, no Mundys.)

And if you feel like flinging money around, the Mundy-Brain marriage certificate will tell you who Frederick's father was and how old Frederick was at the time. ;)

I'm thinking we should all amaze and delight our male partners and family members by emailing them to ask for the England game schedule, no reason stated. I'm going to!

You can search on Findmypast with an address.

I presume this includes the 1911 census and it's free during the England World Cup football matches so maybe you could look then.

You just have to register.

Hi , have just come home to find the certificate for Emily's birth has arrived.

She was the daughter of Frederick Mundy and Rose Brain. They are living/ working at Kimberworth Park Farm Rotherham in 1908. Frederick is described as an agricultural labourer.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed so far. I am now going to see if I can uncover any more leads. It would seem that the theory of Rose dying in labour in1911 is probably accurate. As with many other families it also seems that names get recycled. What this hasn't proven is whether this Frederick Mundy is my gg uncle or another Mundy cousin ??

Of course by 1911 Frederick may well have moved away from Rotherham although I think Rose's death appears in that area on Bmd.

Does anyone know how to find Kimberworth Park farm on a census without the name of someone who may lived there?. No sign of correct Frederick on 1911 at the moment.

Thanks again if anyone can help
Best wishes

Let us know when you get the cert

Thanks Janey , I really appreciate your time and thoughts. I am going to plot out and x ref everything I know or have access to today .

Will send for the cert , as you say , it will answer my query and give me more info on Frederick etc if he is her father. It would appear even if he is not that Emily will fit into the family picture somewhere.

Much appreciated
All the best

On that George Mundy: the househood in 1851 in Farthinghoe, just for ref:

William Mundy 50
Temperance Mundy 39
Thomas Mundy 14
Sarah Mundy 10
Edward Mundy 9
> William Mundy 7
> George Mundy 5
Maria Mundy 2
Phebe Sabin 45

George doesn't seem to have had a son Frederick (George is pretty easy to find in the censuses - they're Munday in 1861). But there are other siblings. ;)

You really need niece Emily's birth certificate. It could answer a lot of questions.

Have had a general look around but still piecing stuff together.

It would appear that the George Mundy Janey found was a brother to William Mundy , father to Frederick etc. I did find a Mundy living in the Kimberworth Park I mentioned but at present have no idea who he is and how he relates to any of my Mundys. I sort of feel he must fit in somehow as it seems quite a precise address to give.

I may be wrong but i am also feeling increasingly that the Fred Mundy we may have found is a cousin to my Thomas- the original starting point to my search being the mystery niece Emily Mundy staying with my gg uncle Thomas in1911. She may be the daughter of one of Tom's cousins - sort of feel that is the way it may turn out ??

I need to find more time to look at all this

Thanks again , maybe the night shift will come up trumps again!!

Best wishes

Thank you so much for your time and interest in helping me.
I will look into all this new info today .

Just to say that you have got the correct family
Parents Sophia and William Mundy
Frederick, Emily, John, Ernest- all born Farthinghoe, Northants
Thomas born Whitnash , Warks.

I have been fortunate that I had quite a lot of info on the family already and have succeeded in solving other mysteries such as when / how the children were " orphaned " .

Frederick ( and any family he may have had) were never mentioned in all of the family folklore so it would be good to clear this up if possible.

Many thanks again
Will update later

Ooops Janey,

Had this thread open for a while then added to it a while later. At that point, Sylvia was the last to respond.

I'm hearing an echo, Rose. ;)

That was indeed my theory!

Perhaps he married Rose and she died in childbirth:

Deaths Mar 1911
Mundy Fred 0 Rotherham 9c 519
Mundy Rose 33 Rotherham 9c 519

A smidgen more info might help the nosy.

Thomas had 3 brothers ... who were? born when/where?

This looks like the 1891 Frederick, in 1871:

Name: Frederick Munday
Age: 2
Estimated birth year: abt 1869
Relation: Son
Father's Name: William
Mother's Name: Sophia
Where born: Farthinghoe, Northamptonshire, England

Civil parish: Farthinghoe
Town: Farthinghoe
County/Island: Northamptonshire

William Munday 26
Sophia Munday 23
Frederick Munday 2
Emily Munday 2 months

Interesting because of the sister's name, Emily, possibly.

1881 seems to fit the info:

Civil parish: Whitnash
County/Island: Warwickshire
William Munday 36
Sophia Munday 33
Frederick Munday 12
Emily Munday 10
John Munday 7
Ernest Munday 5
Thomas Munday 2

Another tidbit: the only Mundy in 1911 recorded as born in Farthinghoe is a George c1845, in Ecclesall Bierlow, where that 1901 marriage took place.

If Frederick Mundy married Rose Brain in 1901:

Deaths Mar 1911
Mundy Fred 0 Rotherham 9c 519
Mundy Rose 33 Rotherham 9c 519

... she may have died in childbirth shortly before the 1911 census.

Other Mundy events in Rotherham 1901-1911:
- William 1906 and Lily 1908 are with parents William and Ada in Rotherham in 1911.
- Minnie died 1907 aged 4 could be Minnie Cecilia born 1902 Sheffield, who could be a child of Frederick
- there were also a Thomas Q1 1904 and Sarah Jane Q4 1904 born in Sheffield; Sarah Jane is with father John Henry 1871 in 1911

All I can suggest is that you send for that birth certificate and see who her parents are.

That really is the only way ot find out if Frederick is her father.

Is there any possibility that she could be a great-niece???

Thanks for the help so far. I have been digging around trying to find out if this marriage is the correct one. I can't find them on the 1911 census.and have struggled on free bmd to throw up any brothers/ sisters/ deaths etc.

The location of Emily's birth on the 1911 census seems very precise- Kimberworth Park . I suppose she could be the wife's niece yet she has the surname Mundy and from what I know of the family they were well educated and unlikely to give incorrect info but who knows??

Thanks in advance if anyone can shed any more light for me.
