As Ada's middle name is Catherine it could be her using the pet name for Catherine-Kate

Mary - yes I have the information about Henry Smallwood and Thomas and it appears correct. Looks like Sarah left Thomas and took the children to Glasgow. I agree that if Elizabeth Fisher's mother was not called Sarah McFadden Skett then its not my KATE living in Cirencester. Thats that ruled out.

Ellen - yes, both certificate show 16 March 1868 Birmingham as Sarah and Thomas's wedding. I'm beginning to think I will never solve the mystery of who was Sarah Ann Skett (Scott) and where Ada Catherine (KATE) was in 1881.

Have you all the Birth Certificates for Sarah Ann Smallwoods children ,and who registers them and if Sarah herself what are the spellings.
You see the only Sarah Ann i have found with parents John and Sarah are Surname Scott,and she registered Charles Harry Smallwood's birth and is down as Sarah Ann Smallwood nee Scott ? Also she ends up in Scotland as a lone woman(No Husband) so she must have had support around her.Although Ada (Kate) is missing from the 1881 Census does not neccesteraly mean she is registered else where.I will research now the Kate you have in the 1881 Census and see if i can find a connection there.Ada could have been out playing with pals when mother filled it in? Although i believe it has already been researched in this thread.
