Have you all the Birth Certificates for Sarah Ann Smallwoods children ,and who registers them and if Sarah herself what are the spellings.
You see the only Sarah Ann i have found with parents John and Sarah are Surname Scott,and she registered Charles Harry Smallwood's birth and is down as Sarah Ann Smallwood nee Scott ? Also she ends up in Scotland as a lone woman(No Husband) so she must have had support around her.Although Ada (Kate) is missing from the 1881 Census does not neccesteraly mean she is registered else where.I will research now the Kate you have in the 1881 Census and see if i can find a connection there.Ada could have been out playing with pals when mother filled it in? Although i believe it has already been researched in this thread.

Mary - yes I have the information about Henry Smallwood and Thomas and it appears correct. Looks like Sarah left Thomas and took the children to Glasgow. I agree that if Elizabeth Fisher's mother was not called Sarah McFadden Skett then its not my KATE living in Cirencester. Thats that ruled out.

Ellen - yes, both certificate show 16 March 1868 Birmingham as Sarah and Thomas's wedding. I'm beginning to think I will never solve the mystery of who was Sarah Ann Skett (Scott) and where Ada Catherine (KATE) was in 1881.

As Ada's middle name is Catherine it could be her using the pet name for Catherine-Kate

Was the parents of thomas SmallwoodHenry 1807 and catherine?
If so Thomas was with dad Henry in 1881 when Sarah Ann (nee Skett) was in Glasgow.
On 1881 record Thomas is a Brassfounder like on 1871 when he is with Ann (Sarah Ann)

Death for a Thomas Smallwood born @ 1845 died 1890 in Birmingham J/F/M 6d 123.

Is the marrige date given on Charles Harry Smallwoods birth in Glasgow the same as the one in 1868?

Not finding a marriage for a John W Scott and a Sarah Ann McFadden?either in Scotland or England.Spelling could be out.

Ruth says she was Sarah Ann Skett ,which looks as though it was changed to Scott on birth record of Charles 1874 in Glasgow.

I don't think the Sarah J Burton nee Scott is the correct one.

This should be Sarah A Scott,Married under her single name ,although had married a Burton as in the 1851 Census she is staying with the Burtons.Or transcript is wrong and she was Sarah Ann Scott with no previous marriage

If Sarah died in Glasgow there could be a poor relief record held at the Mitchell Library,Glasgow.

Joseph fisher married elizabeth Ford J/F/M 1860 6a 441 in Cirencester.

1861 Joseph Fisher and elizabeth with Elizabeths mum Harriett Ford born 1805 Stroud.

Back to Kate,1891 with her sister Edith M Smallwood born 1868.
1901 Kate with mum Anne Wilton born 1839 Stroud.

Edith M Smallwood with parents William Smallwood 1835 and Anne 1836 Stroud.

Anne Smallwood married Thomas Wilton in 1886 in Cirenchester.

Conclusion is that I don't think Kate is the same person as Ada Catherine Smallwood born 1872 in Aston Birmingham.
