There is no reg'n on freebmd to fit a birth in Dec 1896 - OR Dec 1898, although his death shows his birth to be 1896

Perhaps he wasn't born in England/Wales?

There's this one, but if he was born on Christmas Day they would have had to register him within a week of birth.

If he was illegitimate he could've made up his father's name.

He may have thought he was born in 1896. This Albert is born in Grimsby.

1911: SHAW ALBERT M 1897 14 Sculcoates Yorkshire East Riding (with York)

No knowing WHERE he was born - his wife was born in South Wales, and they both died in Hertfordshire.

A child born in December 1896 would have been 14 when the 1911 census was taken........................

I just wonder what Beatrice was doing in Grimsby when others of her family were still in Pontypool in the 1920s.
