Parents have six weeks to register a birth - some rush out to do it ASAP - some wait the full six weeks.

Born 15th Sept - only a few days before the start of the next qtr.............

You're in the 1st qtr because one of your parents went to the register office before March 31st..........if they'd waited till April 1st, you'd be in the 2nd qtr

I was born March 20th - my birth is registered in AMJ qtr..........

Don't be too rigid in your thinking................

Samantha, it depends when it was registered. So the person could be born September but registered by his parents in October. Say, my child is born15th September. I register him at the registry office on 1st october. So he appears in that quarter. If I was quicker and did this on 30th sept he would appear Jul-Sept. Not sure how else to say this, maybe someone else is better!

Funny you should use my birthday as an example, Jan...............

Samantha, the "Dec" refers to the registration quarter. So you have Jan-March and so on, the last being Oct-Dec. it refers to registration of the event not the event itself. So for example, a child could be born \March 20th and registered April, so will appear in the Apr-June quarter.

Hi Flick
marc says that his grandfather died later than 1975 as marc was not born until 1977 and remembers him being ill at home (Basingstoke) .
So this one would be incorrect.

Samantha

Samantha Report 18 Jun 2010 21:27

Hi Flick
Thanks for your help, Marc has just said that he remembers one of his grandads being called Thomas so this would be right, its proving somewhat a little difficult trying to get info from his parents hence why we are having to do things this way.
