Hi Jamie,

just a snippet of info;

"The 119th (Algoma) Battalion, CEF was a unit in the Canadian Expeditionary Force during the First World War. Based in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, the unit began recruiting in late 1915 in the Algoma district and on Manitoulin Island. After sailing to England in August 1916, the battalion was absorbed into the 8th Reserve Battalion on April 16, 1918. The 119th (Algoma) Battalion, CEF had one Officer Commanding: Lieut-Col."

This is from Wikipedia and there is a photo on there so William would most likely be on it!!!

I've been scratching around on the Canadian side and cant find any registration of William Wass death anywhere.
Also, I found that he joined the Canadian Expeditionary Force in Jan. 10, 1916. 119th Overseas Battalion. Can anyone tell me how I could find out more about where he may of served?

Would it be possible to check when Rueben and his family left Australia for New York? I seems odd travelling that route to come back to England.
Also, is there any sign of the origional journey out which would of been c. 1890
Thx, Jamie

So much to go through...so exciting...so stuck for words.
Thank you so so much

Ginny, it would seem the trip to the U.S came after Austraila...not impossible. Thanks ever so much btw.
Unfortunately my family seems to have travelled a lot. hehe..
Can i be awful and ask you to check one more for me please? Ruebens sister Kate Weston left England never to return around 1915 to Canada. I believe she left her husband but had the children with her...3 children were William, Eva and Hilda.
Kate of course having the same parents as Rueben
