Hello Cathy (don't you sleep?????)
You have me a bit excited! yes it is a bit of a long shot but....
These people , the Halls, Davies's and Corbetts are contempory with my G. granddad Thomas.
One of Walter's brothers is called Thomas Davies, not sure if Davies is a middle name or surname. (could be a stepson and Sinah could have been married to a Davies?)
The Corbett connection we know about up to a point I wonder if the Corbetts and Halls were related or the Halls and Davieses?
I
ll try and find a connection tomorrow my brain is fried tonight hahaha
Thank you for all your hard work!

Hi Dee
If he was just a name can I get my £9 back??? lol

Lilly and Walter had 12 daughters (11 of which I've managed to trace) and 1 son (the youngest and my dad!) Not sure they ever looked at his face!
They called him Charles Wallace neither of these names come up anywhere else.
Their first child was Sinah Ann. Sinah was Walter's mum's name so maybe Ann was Lilly's but I can't find an Ann (e, ie) Hall with a child called Lilly in the '71 Census and only 1 with a husband called William but her children's names don't fit with the ones I have. Such joy!
Thanks for your help as ever,
signing off for tonight now........probably.........

Looking at your Parry side, everything on the marriage ties up apart from the name of William instead of Thomas...... I wonder if this was just a mix up when the fathers names were asked for as Lilly's father was apparently William??

Uummm........ William Hall, did Lilly name any of her sons William?? If not I would say that would be very strange, I wonder if he was "just a name"?

Hi Colin,

It's from ancestry.co.uk as they don't actually have any records on genes I believe.
Most people just use genesreunited for these help boards as I think it works out as quite expensive. I thought they use ancestry records on here though?

Just realisied I lived next door to a Colin Parry when I was a very little girl?
You're not from Wales are you? LOL

Hi Cathy,
I've just tried to find the 1891 ref you have given below but dispite trying under all 4 names I can't find them.
Are you using the search on here or a different site and if so why is it not listed here?
Thanks

Hi Cathy.
Yes it does sound like the same girl. It might help me find young Lilly and her family (they may be childhood friends (?) or maybe workmates)
I wish I knew the secret of finding people as quick as you guys can! Is it a secret that I've not been let into? hahhaa
Thank you for helping

Hello Good People!
It's been a long wait but the Marriage Cert came this morning. It has left me totally confused!

Here goes:-
Place:- St Michael's Toxteth (correct as far as I know!)
Aug 18 1890 correct date (ref: family bible)
Walter Parry, 24, (b.1866, about right)
Job "Smith" (He did start off as his dad's apprentice but didn't seem to have worked as a Smith according to Censuses after 1880)
Address:- 1 Graham Street
Father's name :- William. (ALL my records show his dad as Thomas!!! Could be William was his Sunday name but I've found no record of it)
Father's job: Smith (Thomas was a Blacksmith)

Lilly Hall 21 (b.1869, again ties in witrh Censuses)
No Job listed.
Address:- 1 Graham Street (I'm emotionally damaged to find my Grandparents "Lived in sin!" lol)
Father:- William Hall deceased.
Father's job: Mariner.

Witnesses:-
Edward Parry (No Edwards (as first name) that I've found but Walter had a brother called Richard Edward. Could be him)
Agnes Bell Corbett (No idea who she is)

Have I got the right Walter and Lilly here? There seems to be too many things match for it not to be but I'm wondering about Walter's job and his father's name.

So folks, where do we go from here?
As ever, Thank You all for your interest and help!

Hi Susan, Your guess is as good as anyones lol. I have found so many "possibles" I've lost count.
I am ordering Lilly's Marriage cert today so with luck we might be able to solve the mystery! (Don't want to scare anyone, but have a similar problem with my Maternal Granddad hahaha.....Ordering their cert too! lol)
Thank you for your contribution.........Watch this space!

Maureen and Dee (and everyone else of course! Thanks again for all your efforts! I am ordering the cert tomorrow and will certainly keep you informed! I have only glanced at the above posts not taken it all in yet. It's been a long long day! as Paul Simon said.
I wondered about the age difference between Lilly and her brother and sister but then Lilly had 13 kids between Sinah Ann in about 1890 and my dad in 1912 so maybe its not that unusual (?)
Another query if I may? How do you track an address? I can find nothing on here that allows you to do that.
Thanks again for your help

Ditto for me,Dee.
Just don't see Sarah anywhere prior to 1871,though.
I do hope Colin keeps us in the loop when he gets any certs or breakthroughs. (You will, won't you,Colin??!)

Hi Maureen,

I think you could be right about David, looks like this lady may have just taken children in???

The thing that confuses me is in Colins first post, Edward Born 185? and Mary Anne dying 1853........ these would be quite considerably older than Lily, I wonder if these "siblings" could actually be Aunt and Uncle to Lily?

Thing the only thing to do is wait for the marriage cert..... unless you could see Sarah as a nurse on the 1861 census on FMP??

It really bugs me when it doesn't add up, don't know about you Maureen but I can often get "hooked" on a particular thread and I have a feeling that this is one of them!

MaureeninNY Report 24 Jun 2010 19:31

Could well be,Dee. I know FMP has some? of the resurrected ones, but I can't see Sarah. Any bets that David isn't her natural son either?

Thanks Maureen. I wonder if the 1861 census that we're looking for is one of the water damaged batches?
