I am asking for help on behalf of Perranporth memorial service organisers who are trying to trace the relatives of seven soldiers who were killed in 1940, including:

UPDATE by edit on JUNE 28th:

Birth record found for son of Arthur Tysilis Jones and Dorothy Ada Jones. The son is also called Arthur Tysilis Jones, b 1940, Glamorganshire. This is the person currently being sought, as possibly the closest living relative of the above.

We don't need to got back in time at this point - now trying to trace any marriages, children, relations (not necessarily ancestors) etc. of the son Arthur Tysilis Jones, b 1940, Glamorganshire.

I am not personally looking for relatives. I am just trying to help any remaining relatives find out about this memorial service. The organisers are keen to ensure that they track them down for the 70th and last memorial service.

But 3 marriages that could be his in Anglesey area,thats if he stayed in the area of course.

Lovely surprise today when Stuart drove down from Glasgow with a bottle of Laphroaig (my favourite!) as a "thank you" for the help, so I will have a dram for you :-) If I had one for everyone who has helped here I would be legless!

The update from Stuart on Arthur is that he has found the birth record for Arthur's son with Dorothy. He is/was also called Arthur Tysilis Jones, born Glamorgan 1940, so the family must have moved to South Wales at some point.

So far, he has not been able to find any further records for Arthur Tysilis Jones (b 1940) eg. marriages, children, death (if you Google "Stuart Gray" + Perranporth you will see that he has written to local papers all over the UK trying to find all these missing relatives).

It seems to be much harder to "family-history-in-reverse", tracking forward in time rather than backwards. Especially for names like Jones! Unless someone has an "internet presence", or is a Company Director, and there is nothing else to go on except a birth record . . . I suppose if you had a lot of money and time you could go through every electoral register - s'trewth!

I have found some other possibilities with this search:

But flippin 'eck - if only the surname had been "Tysilis" rather than "Jones" ;-(

Better get off and check if I need to do any more updates :-)
