I think this is where the other trees have taken George as the father from. But on this George is a labourer and Priscilla is a minister so I don't think it is the correct couple.

Hmm, yeah that's very interesting. I guess that could be where people have found George the father from. But on this record, George and Priscilla were born in the 1860s instead of 1841 when my Greatx3 grandfather was born.

But, yep, that could very well be where the confusion has stemmed from!

Thank you,
Tansy

Mmm.. this is interesting. The Andrew Halford who married Emma gives his father as Thomas. So I wonder if they were cousins.

Andrew Halford
Age: Full Age
Estimated birth year: abt 1861
Spouse Name: Emma Tindall
Record Type: Marriage
Event Date: 20 May 1861
Parish: St Mary, Paddington Green
County: Middlesex
Borough: Westminster
Father Name: Thomas Halford
Spouse Father Name: William Tindall

Witnesses were John Halford and Jane

Their marriage. It looks as though Jane was Emmas sister. Nothing like keeping it in the family!

John Halford
Age: Full Age
Estimated birth year: abt 1853
Spouse Name: Jane Tindall
Record Type: Marriage
Event Date: 25 Dec 1853
Parish: St John the Evangelist, Paddington
County: Middlesex
Borough: Westminster
Father Name: Thomas Halford
Spouse Father Name: William Tindall

Also when all three of them married they were Labourers. It seems to be later that they became boatmen.

Looking at the 1911 Andrew and Emma had 15 children 9 of which died. How sad is that?

I'm going to post this but I don't know if it is relevant or not.

Have you got birth certificates (for parents, and mother's maiden name, etc) and marriage certificates (for ages, occupations, and fathers' names, etc) in an unbroken link back to the George that you are looking for?
Thanks

Tansy

Tansy Report 27 Jun 2010 11:32

Thank you very much for all the posts.

The information on Thomas is very interesting... It certainly seems to fit, except that if he and Ann did get married in 1822... then that would make them far too young :S

It's all very confusing!

Unfoortunately I don't have any birth certificates. However, I think I have all the solid information on George and Priscilla as I have spoken to people who do have certificates and we have been ale to confirm our findings.
It's really the information on his father and mother that I need- Thomas Hallford and Ann Hargraves. I found their marriage record but that is all I have...

Many thanks and Best wishes,
Tansy
