Will do - Harry was in Reading War hospital in the last Qtr of 1917 with 2nd degree burns from a mustard gas attack, he was then posted to Salonica (Greece) in first qtr of 1918 until the end of the war where he contracted malaria. He was demobbed in Mar 1919 and married by Mar 1920 hence my thinking that miriam could have been a nurse.

Have by chance found the WW1 records for Harry Atkinson, therefore know his whereabouts for definite between Mar 1916 - Mar 1919.

Electrol rolls - did they exist then, if so can look ups be done, missing his whereabouts 1912 - 1915 and 1920 - 1929, probably Dalby Yorkshire but need to prove it.

Thanks Jan. She is shown as born Wingfield in the 1901 census but it is a 'Ditto' under Alice and Minnie ' & one of the other children is born Pilsley.

Looks like she's your Lily Debra.

Still no Minnie/Miriam though!

Pildley clay is now Clay Cross I think, only about 1.5 miles from North Wingfield, so a good bet I'd say.

I don't know where Lily is beyond 1901

So in 1909 she was in Wingerworth and in 1920 in Scarborough. Most of her siblings from the 1901 census were still with her parents in 1911 except Lily and Alice. Any idea what happened to them?
Afraid I'm not much use here as I don't have a sub to 1911 and there are lots of Miriam/Minnie Browns. Been all around the houses via free searches but couldn't view the details to verify anything.
Finding Lily & Alice would be useful if only to discount the possibility that she was living with them.

There is a Brown family living next door to the Alletts in 1901. Maybe worth a look to see if they are related to Minnie

EDIT just to give a bit more detail on the 1901census info,

The Allett's street address is given as 'Swathwick'. George's occupation is 'Farmer'

Before their entry is a something 'Hall' and before that looks like 'The Barley Mow Inn'.

After their entry comes the Brown family, street address 'Derby Road' ( head of household George Brown, tailor/outfitter ), followed by another entry listed as 'Swathwick' occupied by a farmer.

So it isn't clear which address is Swathwick Farm, unless several farmers are sharing it!

So it seems the Alletts moved to Nether house Farm (1911 census) between 1909 & 1911 but Minnie didn't move with them.

On marriage cert she is a spinster, no work details recorded. Address Langdale End (the village where Darncombe Farm is).

Clay Cross & Wingerworth are 3.3 miles apart according to Google Maps.

I have reread the post card but there are no further clues other than she is definitely working for Mrs Allett and that she is living there as she has not been home for some weeks.
