the only way to prove anything is with parish records ..... and you are like me, you have to depend on whatever is on the internet! It's impossible for us to actually visit churches, etc

Certificates are not available for these early births etc ..... registration started on July 1 1837 in England and Wales.

I suggest you just keep poking around on those 2 sites, google "parish records" .... and keep on asking on here

Do NOT though start a new thread or threads for these families ................. keep updating this one so that people can see what has already been found and don't duplicate the searches.

it is possible to change the title of your thread ... click on Edit in the header message, and the title bar will also show. Just add Update, p. 3 or whatever.

You will always be able to find the thread in My Threads (in the box headed Tools to the left of the screen)

There are probably relations still alive over there ..... try putting the names in the Search Trees box in the dark green band above ..... this will tell you if anyone on this site has them in their tree. Then you can send a pm (personal message) through GR to the tree owner.

I can't find Ann Adie

It would be great to go back.

I actually went to one of the 3 villages in Buckinghamshire that my father's family originated in ....... they were all in a very close proximity to each other.

Unfortunately, the grave stones in the churhyard were all so old and caked with moss that you couldn't decipher the writing, and the church was locked. We couldn't find anyone in the village.

So it was a wasted trip from that point of view ........... we hadn't made any arrangements, and in fact hadn't even thought about going there until I suddenly realised that we were only about 10 miles away!

If you do manage to make the trip .......... plan it carefully, and contact the church in advance ...... many of the old records are no longer kept in the churches but have been moved elsewhere.

HI Sylvia, there seems to be some people with Ann Davies, not Ann Adie, married to Joseph Gilham. I am still trying to prove which is the surname for her. I have been swamped with family contacting me, and offering info, on a few family ancestors, only after 5 days of being on this site, I have got so much info, I can't believe it, I haven't had time to keep adding to my family tree, I have 2 members sent me photo of gr gr aunts, and uncles, but the one we can't find is, is it Adie or Davies,??? and still looking for it. thanks for everything,. talk soon, cheers Kathy
