Hi Anthony,
I'd love to know the parents of my ancestor, Robert McKenzie born Knockally Caithness, Scotland, who maried Janet Henderson, born Guidabest, Latheron. I can find their marriage at Latheron on July 5th 1821 and their children, Jane b1825, my Alexander 1827, Agnes 1833 and Elizabeth 1835...can't find any other children between the marriage date `1821 and 1825 . The date of the marriage and children would date Robert and Janet around 1800....are there any records for this time in Scoland? I can find the family living at Rian in 1851, but very little else. Any ideas Anthony? Many thanks for your time. Best wishes, Rosie. Melbourne, Australia

Do I take that if you dont reply to us straight away you cannot find anything out for us????
I ask this as you are replying to new questions what about the old ones that have been waiting for replies for weeks.
A simple "I cannot find anything for you" would do please.

Hi Anthony,
Thank you for your reply. All I can tell you is that Alexander James Stevenson died 15th April 1900 in Calcutta, it is stated on the cert that he was 62yrs old. I don't know where he was born in Scotland. He had a son and daughter in India namely Alexandra Jane Stevenson born 2nd Jan 1868. I know that her brother's name was also Alexander James Stevenson which could possibly mean that the name Alexander James Stevenson was passed all the way down the line, I don't know. These are all the dates I have Anthony if it is of any help?

Hi Anthony,
I don't know whether or not you can help me but I am trying to find the marriage of Alexander James Stevenson to a Mary Anne (Augusta)?(Surname not known). They lived in Calcutta India in the mid 1800's. I have been unable to find a marriage in India and sadly I do not know which part of Scotland they came from. It is a long shot but I would be grateful if you maybe able to help me. Regards Thelma

Hi,
While you are all waiting for help like myself I thought you might like these useful web addresses I have found many an ancester on these.

1. good for finding births/ marriages if you know the parish and surname.

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~hughwallis/IGIBatchNumbers.htm

2. This has some of the census's for Scotland better in the early years and better than some of the transcriptions on ancestry, also births and marriages. This site is growing all the time.

http://www.scotlandsfamily.com/

3.Great if you are looking for someone from the Moray area. A lot of the area's history / people etc on here.

Hi Anthony,

I would like to find the details of a marriage in Scotland dated 1844. It is on the IGI, but the fathers' names are not given. I see the Scotlandspeople website only has marriages from 1855. Do you know if there is any way to find further details?

Thank you,

Debbe

Hi
I'm trying to trace any information on my grandmother, Mary Weir, born in 1871 in the Whitburn/Linlithgow area. She came to Derbyshire as a servant and met and married my grandfather. Although her name and date of birth is all that I know I think she had brothers and/or sisters as I have some family letters from the 1950's mentioning kinship/friendship but no specific information.

Thank you

Janine

Hi Anthony

Is there any chance you could look for George and Anne Willis they lived in Blantyre. Their Daughter my great greatmother Sarah Willis married a Thomas Joseph Colligan (Irish) on the 31 March 1908. I can't find anything for her parents before or after Sarah's Wedding. My grandmother Helen Colligan was born 3 Jan 1911 in Blantyre.

Thsnks for any help you can give.

Hi Anthony,

I wonder if you could help us please?

I am trying to help my friend trace her Grandparents and great grandparents. We have hit a wall concerning the Grandfather and can't get back any further. This is what we already know:-

Elizabeth Watson (c1891 Glasgow) and Herbert Walter Stewart (1877) had these children between them

Gertrude 22/7/1917
Grace 7/7/1919
Elizabeth
Helen 14/6/1916
Robert

We have a date of 17/8/1914 for a wedding in Kinlochleven but haven't actually found a marriage certificate for them; it is possible this is fictitious. We think they lived in Glasgow. We can't find a birth cert for Herbert or any parents for him.
Please help us if you can!!

Thank you very much for your help

Siobhan
