G'Day All,
I am having trouble finding my 2xGGM, Elizabeth Monk.
Going backwards My MaternalGF was William Henry Williamson b1860, Birth cert gives his mother as Charlotte Ann Meads, checking them on the census gives her birth as c1861, so I then went looking for a marriage. not so easy. there is a Charlotte Meads marrying a William Williams , Jun 1879 so I sent for the cert. sounds right giving Occ as Fishmonger and Charlottes father as Charles. But it says Father Deceased. Which according to the Censuses is wrong.
Getting Charlotes Birth cert shows Mother as Eliza Monk, cant find any record of a marriage between Chas Meads and ELiza Monk
Can any one help?

They are the ones I've got. The last one throws it allout though as its Oxfordshire. but I cant find any marriage for them,on FBMD or FMP I dont have Ancestry . Charles shows up all the way to 1891, although charlottes marriage cert shows him as deceased.
Eliza or Elizabeth , could there have been two of them? 1861 c says Eliza born1840 teddington - 1871c on says Elizabeth born1835 Oxfordshire!

Got me wondering whether I should get a birth cert for one of the younger children!

We have a problem with Eliza Monk because I don't think she dies and leaves Charles a Widower. She is found in 1871 with her mother and "husband" Henry Charman. I'm reasonably sure it is her. Elizabeth Monk is noted as visitor and Harry Monk as Nephew. What do you think?

Yes Astra that is correct , Ellen Williamson married Albert Williamson, just to make it difficult to keep track of which W belongs to which W, to make it harderher father was born Alfred William but prefered to be known as William Alfred . Williamson is hard enough without those distractions.

I have made contact , through a tree search, with a member who has Eliza Monk on his tree and we are going to find out as much as we can to sort this out. I will have to send for a Birth Cert for one of Charles' younger children to see if the Collett connection is a goer , but it is appearing that there is a connection with Eliza monk (they may just of had children together or been married (common law) and decided to call it off . We need to look closer.
