Thanks Catherine. Seems John married twice. First in the UK and the second in New York. Ruby was born in New York and my father Arthur in 1899 in the UK. It all is very complicated and I am searching for the products of the first marriage ie William and Alexander and their descendants.

BUT can't find a marriage?

So he married Amy in 1877.
Alexander was born in 1877 followed by William in 1880.
Then we have Barbara who was born in 1882 to Amy, and Ruby who was also born in 1882 to Alice.
Then follows Maggie in 1887 and Florance in 1888.
Finally there's Arthur in 1900 to Alice.

Looks like he had a double life to me, especially as the baptism records for Barbara and Florence give John as father.

I don't have anything as exciting as this in my tree!

Who, I wonder, was the father of the children born to Amy after 1881?
Or did John have a bike?

Says on 1911 image that they have been married for 28 years!!
