Is there anyone out there who can access Canadian records who can find out anything about John Stanley Preston born 1912 in Edmonton, Ontario Canada? I am searching on behalf of a friend who is John's daughter and unfortunately she has no information about him except his father's name. John Stanley Preston's mother was Annie Newcom but unsure whether that is the correct spelling. Annie Newcom was born c1891 and believe John Walter Preston was born c1875. They were married in Canada presumably in the same district as John Stanley Preston was born.

I think his name must have been James Walter Preston and not John Walter Preston but that is nothing new in family tree research. Names tend to get messed about with, lol.

Yes Margaret, I did notice that, obviously in a rush. Their son John Stanley Preston was born 12th? January, 1912, six months later!

Surprise, surprise Dee, lol

Margaret - not quite. They arrived 18/8/1911 and didn't get married until 19/8/1911. Course, they arrived in Montreal and still had ~550 km to get to Toronto. I once did that trip by train back in the 1970s - it took 5-6 hours - quite pleasant and a lot easier than driving it.

yes mgnv I noticed the marriage date was the following date but didn't like to quibble, lol

Interesting to read about the distance from Montreal to Toronto, is that where York is then? They must have been shattered by the time they got there.
