I am trying to find my Great Grandfather Peter Hogan. He was born in Dublin about 1869. I have located him on the 1871 census living in Wigan, Lanc's with his parents, John Hogan b. Dublin abt 1845 and Ann or Mary Ann b. Dublin abt 1843, and sibling John 7mths b. Wigan. John Hogan's occ. is labourer at ironworks. From this info., they arrived in England somtime between 1869 & 1871. Need to find their birth records and also Ann/Mary Ann's maiden name. Any info will be greatly appreciated.

For Peter Hogan being born in Dublin in 27th Aug 1865.

But one of the other childrens birth certs will tell you if it could be him or not.

ach..
If the parents were John Hogan and Ann Swift then Peter Hogan was b.27 Aug. 1865 ...Baptised at St.Muchan (Dublin) and the family were living at 62 Bolton St.at the time.
Baptism of a Mary Ann also listed 20 Oct.1867 ...2 Lisburn St.Dublin.(Parents John Hogan and Ann Swift)

The parents are John Hogan and Anne Swift. I did get the same info as you regarding Bap. for Peter and Mary Ann, I also got Bap. for a Christopher and a Birth for Ann Swift, but there is no Marriage for John Hogan and Anne Swift. the website was Irish geneology. Any suggestions for John and Ann's marriage.

Yes certain 1901 are the correct people, so I also think the 1891 for John is wrong but I can't find them anywhere.

ach

ach Report 25 Sep 2010 15:19

Yes I do have the 1911 and it's the same one as yours.

ach Report 25 Sep 2010 15:24

Another thing I have is Peter and Ann Houghton's marriage cert. 29/3/1893 Peter's father is John Hogan Bricklayers Labour and Peters address was 14 Albert St Ince,Wigan

FannyByGaslight

FannyByGaslight Report 25 Sep 2010 15:25

The 1891 could or could not be John Hogan as Catherine is with him on it and she seems to be the only Catherine Hogan born Wigan at that time.

Births Jun 1880
HOGAN Catherine Wigan 8c 41

So I am sitting on the fence for 1891.

The others may well have popped over to Ireland for a visit to Mothers family.

But I cant find Christopher on census before or after 1891 at the moment to be able to find him with father John to see if he is same family.
Wonder why John is down as Widow?
Hmmm..,did Ann die and he remarried a Mary Ann?

Edit
A Taylor family are at 14 Albert street in 1891.

ach Report 25 Sep 2010 15:33

I thought the same regarding Ann dying and John remarrying Mary Ann.
