On the Vict BDM marriage record of David to Mary Ann Pughe, it states that David was born in 'Dumfriessh'
I have not been able to find any children born to this union.

There is a possibility that he arrived in South Australia.

This is what I've got on him:
David's parents are John Hay b1801 and Margaret Thomson b1803. He is on 1841 age 4 1851 census aged 13 with parents but not on 1861. those make his birth year 1836 ish. The death I have for him is from a MI from Hutton & Corrie parish church graveyard, David Hay died Melbourne, Aus 16/8/1908 aged 82 years, this makes b1826ish
Don't know who he married or if he married before he went to Aus. Don't know when he went.
the death from BMD could be his.
