so William Rowe born 1918 in Fleetwood is your proven ancestor?

Your grandfather??????

Gt Grandfather?????

GT Gt Grandfather?????????

Caroline

Caroline Report 11 Oct 2010 22:54

my grandad, my mother dad

Caroline

Caroline Report 11 Oct 2010 22:57

his mother died 1920, and he was brought to grimsby by his dad, i assume isaac and left in orphange in grimsby 1920/21, i think his dad was a fisherman.

lancashireAnn Report 11 Oct 2010 23:09

As both Fleetwood and Grimsby were big fishing ports at the time the occupation of fisherman seems v possible. William's birth cert would prove it.

So we can discount probably the Isaac James in Devonport and concentrate on Isaac in Lancashire??

Where did the James (aka Isaac) bit in your first post come from?

Caroline

Caroline Report 11 Oct 2010 23:14

sorry, i cant remember, probably looking at Isaac Rowes father being Isaac too c1936 from cornwall (he's probably wrong then after all)!!

Caroline

Caroline Report 11 Oct 2010 23:15

so does this seem a reasonable summary of what you have

1. Lancashire Marriage indexes for the years: 1918
Surname Forename(s) Surname Forename(s) Church / Register Office Registers At Reference
ROWE Isaac PRIESTLEY Henrietta Barton-on-Irwell Register Office or Registrar Attended Salford BAR/56/46

2. Lancashire Birth indexes for the years: 1918
Surname Forename(s) Sub-District Registers At Mother's Maiden Name Reference
ROWE William Fleetwood Preston PRIESTLEY FLW/34/37

3. Lancashire Death indexes for the years: 1920
Surname Forename(s) Age Sub-District Registers At Reference
ROWE Henrietta 31 Fleetwood Preston FLW/19/28

4. Marriages Dec 1931 (>99%)
Greenhalgh Harriet Rowe Grimsby 7a 1635
Rowe Isaac Greenhalgh Grimsby 7a 1635

William's birth certificate would prove his parents names and one of Isaac's marriage certificates Isaac' father's name and Isaac's birth year

It would be almost impossible to identify Isaac on the 1901 & 1911 census without proving these details

Yes - i will do then- certs it is, thanks for all your help and sorry to give you the runaround

lancashireAnn

lancashireAnn Report 11 Oct 2010 23:33

the only births I can find which seems likely for henrietta

Births Dec 1886 (>99%)
Priestley Henrietta Salford 8d 16

Births Mar 1892 (>99%)
Priestley Henrietta Bradford, Y. 9b 113

Salford seems more likely but again the marriage certificate would prove her dob

I like mystery solving - easy ones are boring!
