For pity's sake, Marilyn. What a big hoo hah. It isn't that "trouble" was caused, it's that efforts were made and we like to think they were useful, and you just weren't answering or responding. Your posts really did read as if you had paid no attention to anything posted. |

I replied to you and I am very sorry to have caused you any trouble. I was very excited going to bed I have told my 86year old mother in law we have some news but I feel mortified that you think I would be so ungracious as not to say thankyou. I will not be using Genes Reunited again and I shall terminate my membership if I could have helped you I would have done my uttmost and if there was not reply I would have asked if that helped so sorry not to be perfect. |

Herbert Hook never married again I just said he had another Family in Bristol. When he died he was buried in Greenbank cemetary Bristol. My mother in law has very few memories of her father and she was only given a small amount of his belongings his birth certificate was not one and only one photograph with a woman and baby and her father and on the back a Toronto address. Be assured that the only record he might have left in canada would be a marriage he was not born or died in canada. |

Now, now, JC, remember it's after midnight over 'ome. I'm always in bed well before that witching hour. I'll probably be staying up later tonight in hopes of seeing some of the Chilean miners being rescued. |

Marilyn, you started the thread by saying he was in the Mounties. Is that accurate? Or are the medals you're referring to from WW1? |

His name was Herbert Hook 1886 on of seven children son of William and Eliza Hook. He went to canada and joined up in Canada for WWI for which we have medals. The family in England owned a Funeral Business and when he returned to Bristol he ran a taxi business and also worked for Frys chocolate factory. It is a mystery as the photo I have of him has a womon and baby and it seems he had a family in canada and when he returned he then had a family my mother in law being the child it seems years ago the canadian family tried to get in touch but thing were hushed up and my mother in law was not put in the picture. He emigrated in 1903 |
