Do send for that death cert in Portsmouth Trudi,I just feel it is prob her as none of the marriages are in the right sort of place for her after 1916.

This is where you will find the twins birth
Pay per view only but MUCH cheaper than a birth cert from GRO and instant viewing.

I have not located a marriage ref for them on FMP so it may not have been reg with the British authorities.

If she did remarry it would have been in the name of Clapson.

Do try a search of trees on here for any of her children and her plus her husband as you never know, there may be someone else researching the family who may have the info.

Good luck with those deaths I gave you that may be her.
It would be nice to know if one of them is her or not.

And after all that I see that you already have her on your tree born Droxford in 1855 as Alice Meredith .
And yet your post says Maiden name unknown???

How can you not know all that I have just done if you already have her on your tree as such please?

Many, many thanks to you. I really do agree that the death in Portsmouth is the most likely.I will certainly try a search with other trees on the site and see if I can get any further information. I will try and come back to you as soon as I find out; but I really appreciate your support. Trudi

You are quite right to ask me that; as your information came in I changed it on my tree. Please don't think I was already aware of that!

2 other people have her.

But you are so lucky that I didnt just delete all my posts as I was fuming when I saw that you had her on your tree as such because I have had it before from people who then say nothing or "oh yes ,sorry ,but I wanted someone else to come up with the same thing".
My time and odd credits are are freely given and I enjoy doing this of course, but some people can take the Michael.
Not saying you are one.

Off to get a spade to try and dig myself out of this hole..

I apologise if I sounded cross, which I was at the time, but as you have now explained it I feel better.

Gosh! I am really amazed at how everyone has been so supportive. Alice Mary was as far back as I could go. I can now add more relatives to my tree.Thank you Vanessa.

Thank you- and I do apologise if this gave you the wrong impression. I am just so excited at having had all the suppoprt in discovering more information about my family history. Don't worry about sounding cross- you had every reason and I am sorry if people do take advantage of situations such as this. However; I like to think I am credited with more integrity. Please know; you have helped me to feel very happy and hopefully if Alice's death is the right one- I will also make my mother happy in the knowledge of what happened to her beloved Granny.
Best wishes, Trudi
