Simeon Lord, born 1818 in Spotland, Lancashire, married Alice (born 1819). They had 5 children, Jane, Simeon, Mary, George and Abraham. I do not know how to find notice of Simeon's birth. Can you help?

Just repeating now what is on the other thread. There seems to be some confusion with dates there as well.

on your other thread you say Simeon & Alice had a son Harry born in Everton in 1879 - that Simeon was born in Manchester

The Simeon born in Spotland seems to be married to a Sally in 1881

you need to confirm which one you are looking at as Simeon Lord is not exactly an uncommon name in the Rochdale/Todmorden area.

If you could tell us how Simeon fits into your tree perhaps we can help you find the right one.

also on your other thread you say Simeon was born 1850 & Alice Hope in 1855

we also need to sort out what years we are looking at

presumably there were not 2 generations of Simeon Lord who married an Alice Hope

I have two generations of Simeon Lord, unfortunately both married an Alice. Father, born 1818 married to Alice but I don't know her maiden name, and son born 1845 who married Alice Hope, born 1843 who gave birth to my grandfather Harry in 1880 (died 1960). I agree that there were far too many Lords in the Spotland area, but so far this family appears to answer most of the questions. I am having great difficulty in confirming the line because I cannot find birth records for either Simeon.

There is this marriage for Simeon - a widower, (with father Simeon) in Rochdale to Alice - but not Hope.

Mike - that looks interesting. I have been put off the Bacup Lords because they haven't appeared to fit in any other way. I'm probably wrong!
