Thought I would mention that the 1871 census quite clearly states that Eli Ainley came from Ashton in Lancashire although living in Kirkheaton. Have check on lan-opc but there doesn't seem to be anyone of that name. There are a few Ainleys living in Ashton on the 1841.-Jle

Looking at the order of the children on that 1841 census, I am not sure that Savil is the father of Henry and Eli as there are younger children listed above. The 1841 census doesn't give relationships to the head of household so they may be nephews? Also as you say I would worry too much about the spelling of Eli / Ely as most people could read and write then. I suspect that Eli didn't give a father's name on his marriage because either his father died when Eli was very young or he was illegitimate.

Hi again Rootgatherer I have been on family search , and i got all the info on the above family And elizabeth is the mother of all the children. Eli is spelt different ?But that could be who ever has written it downs mistake.I was happy with the certs on George and Mary ellen and on Eli and Emma has my elderly confirmed all their names. I dont want to be going down the path on this one?Eli has been all over the place and to pin him down is really hard?with no fathers name on marriage cert.

hI Shirley i have all ready got that the other day? and i could not get any further/ do you think he ran off with emma ? ages fit married her ? but where is the little girl ? had some info on a Emma ainley that had a Eli in 1831 and she was born in lancashire at this minute i can not find info her father was Eli Ainley she was Turner AINLEY mothers name mary Elisabeth was born in 1808 ?COULD THAT BE THE MOTHER?

he seems to vary where he was born but note he is living Whitley which is where ha says he was born on the 1861 census!!

With no father qoted then seems he was illigitimate , born pre 1837 theres no birth cert either.

Hi again I have just recieved marriage certificate of Eli Ainley and Emma Hill Date of marriage 1867 Emma has got her Fathers name on but Eli has no father so what do i do now?
