I have looked on Rootsweb & Family Search and cannot find a Mary Shanklin anywhere.

they are pretty good there and have alot of info for the Maitland NSW Area.

Thank you so much for all you have done. Seems we can't find Mary Shanklin. Perhaps Mary McCann and Mary Shanklin are one and the same. Can't think why James would have listed his Mother as Shanklin on his Marriage Certificate if her name was McCann.

Is this the death of James' father????????

Could be but without a name of who reg. the death it is hard to tell. His Fathers name could have been James as he could have called his son James after his Father. I found that website on the Irish Orphans and it says there that Mary McCann came out on the ship "Earl Grey" 1848 married John Linden a lobourer, Ipswich 20 Jan. 1850, had 6 children. John died 1862 (that fits) and Mary died 14th May 1915. Can't find 6 children.
The name is still McCann and not Shanklin.

There were 4 children born to both Bridget and Mary Ellen

if you go to www.bdm.qld.gov.au

it is a lot more rewarding if you can find out their names, also if they married and when they died.

On the Irish Orphan site, it says that Mary was 19 years old, parents Patrick & Ellen both deceased, religion COE, birthplace Co Antrim.

The death that Ingrid in Oz gave you of Mary in 1915, would be the correct one, even though the parents names are different to the Orphans. If you purchase the marriage certificate, it should have correct details of parents names, where born, ages etc.

Yes, I did notice that Mary's parents on the Orphan site were different to those on her death certificate. That confused me. There was another Mary McCann on that Orphan Site, age 16, religion RC, born Belfast (from memory) and parents Charles and Betty. Whoever put that site together may have got the two Mary's mixed up. I will purchase the marriage certificate and see what it brings.
