Find Ancestors

Hi all.
Can anyone help with a bit of confusion I have?

I am trying to trace Alexander McKenna's parents and siblings.
Just to confuse even more McKenna is sometimes spelt Mc Kenna with a space in between.

Alex was born 21st Oct 1885.
He had a sister Isobella (Bella) who was born and died in 1884.

I know his father was Edward (Ned) McKenna of Cheetham born 1859 and my family member said that the mother was Elizabeth Anna Marks (born 1859).

I was told the parents were married on 9th Aug 1880 but I can't find this wedding anywhere.

Also Edward's parents were John McKenna and Mary Gunn but I think my distant cousin who has given me these details is wrong as I found a marriage for an Edward and Mary.

Please can someone help?

As you know the exact DOB, you must have the birth cert.

What are the details of the parents on the cert?

Where was Alexander born?

sorry, yes it is in Manchester.
I only know his date of birth as I went to his son's 90th birthday last week and he told me it.

there is a marriage on freebmd for the right qtr in 1880 for Edward Mackenna.

yes thats what I found which is why I think Alex's great grand daughter has the wrong details that she gave me.

So you have no proof.....

Have you tried looking for the registration on freebmd??

yes but kept finding the record you mentioned above.
Also I can't find any connection with an Elizabeth Anna Marks

She said Edwards father was called John.
I wonder if she's got them mixed up, John and Edward I mean.

Right...start with what you KNOW.............don't rely on anything anyone tells you unless they can provide documents to back it up

Who did Alexander marry? Where.....and when?

Alexander McKenna married Rose Smith in1919
19 Sep in Chorlton.
He is buried with her in Southern Cemetary, Manchester.

He had 2 children, Reg and another that is still alive.

There is nothing on freebmd to back up the story about the sister........

I found her details, I have her birth and death.
It was spelt McKenny, a typo error on the register. We found it spelt correctly in the parish register of births and deaths

yes thats the wedding. I don't know when he died but know he is here:

He is there with Rose, Rose's sister Florence and Rose's mother who was also called Rose.

The marriage cert will tell you his declared age...and the name and occupation of his father.

I can't see him on any census

I think whoever gave you your 'info' is very confused.....the coincidence of EDWARD marrying MARY GUNN must illustrate that ..............

I know, sorry was just saying where he was. I don't know when he died.I can only find 2 death records for that name.
