If you have the birth certs for the children does Sarahs maiden name say Coe?

I see the marriage in 1855 that chris ho gave you says she is a widow but does name Robert Lambley as her father??

I cannot see a marriage for a Lambley to anyone called Sarah or a Sarah Lambley with a father called Robert so is this bit made up perhaps?

If she was a widow surely she would have married in her last married name?

I think there has been a mistake there. He was widowed but probably not her.

Thats what I thought Ozi

So It was Sarah Lambley he married after he was widowed from his first wife Mary Cox You could purchase a childs birth cert to confirm

It took a while, but I'm pretty sure we got there. As you say, jax, a birth cert will confirm.

Hi Chris and Ozi and jaz,
you've cracked it! thank you so much.
Him being a widow explains it all.Thank fully my husbands grandfather is the son Robert born 1861 so i can now add his mother at last.
I found out by fluke really yesterday that James's father was Francis and i think on James baptism it does say Francis is a Calico printer.
I'm so happy that this horrible brick wall is smashed at last.

Just going to print all of this out and search for all the docs on Ancestry.
