Wouldn't it be lovely if we could just speak to these long dead people and say, hey, what happened to you? Lol. You have been very helpful. I will order that marriage certificate today. Thanks. Kim

Just thinking about her use of the surname 'Aven' - I've noticed in 1891 there are a few 'Avon' families in the Barton Regis area (which covers Bristol St. James), perhaps between Frederick Mould and William Pope she took up with a man with the name Avon?

The annoying thing is she doesn't seem to have had any children which might have helped try and track her down in later censuses!

The years married is a bit ambiguous - looks like she originally wrote 25 but then a 4 was written over the 5.

She'd had 13 children of which 6 had died.

The marriage of Charles Henry states he was about 28 - so a possible death for him?

Deaths Jun 1887
Aven Charles 34 Bristol 6a 5

Might be worth ordering that marriage cert to Mr Charles Henry Aven too for some more answers!

wow - I only went upstairs to change the beds and when I came down there was all this information. It is going to take me a few minutes to read through this. But I gather that my Lavinia was born a Ford, married an Aven, then my g.grandfather William Pope, then.....?

Kim - if you look at the previous messages you'll see where Mould comes in, but brief run down....

Lavinia Caroline Ford b. 1862 St James Bristol - daughter of Richard Cambria Ford and Tabitha.

1st marriage to Frederick James Mould in 1880. They separated and Frederick took up with an Annie and had children with her, together in subsequent censuses.

2nd marriage to Charles Henry Aven in 1884 - seems he died in 1887.

3rd marriage to William Pope in 1887 - they separated and he married again in 1900.

She cannot be found on censuses after 1891 however she died under her first married name of Mould in 1915.

If it is Lavinia that married Charles Aven then she was quick off the mark remarrying because she married my g.g. in August 1887!!! Having read back I am presuming that Lavinia married first into the Mould family, then presumably separated and married Charles Aven, then my g.g. after Charles died. Wow, some girl. So if only I could find out what happened to her after she and my g.g. split. I haven't found any death notice for her yet under any of her names.

We must have cross posted there Alex and all can say is that you are very good. How do you find this all out so quickly? I was just checking on the ancestry site and saw you have already posted a note on Lavinia Mould's name. Wow. Also you have just told me who Doris Pope married, I didn't know that. Edith Pope was my grandmother. You're brilliant!!! Thanks again.

My g.grandfather William Pope did die in 1923. They say he never got over the death of his youngest son Reginald Trevor, who died the year before. Apparently he fell out of the trapdoor of the attic and did instantly. My father was named Trevor in his memory.
